Welcome to the Northwoods Figure Skating Club!
October 2026 Club Update:
We look forward to seeing all of our returning and new skaters on the ice this year! If you haven’t already, please make sure to register your child for the next session. >> Register Here! << Registrations must be complete by Monday, October 26th. Remember, if a skater wishes to be in the 2027 show, they must skate at least 2 sessions with at least one of those sessions being the January 2027 session. Show information will start to be communicated in November, along with fundraising information.
The next Rice Lake session will begin on Sunday, November 1st and will go through Sunday, December 20th. Rice Lake Session hours are as follows:
- Basic Skills: 5-6pm
- Pre-Free-Free Skate 6: 6-7pm
- Punch Card/Free Style Ice: 7-8pm
The first Cumberland session will begin on Monday, November 2nd and will go through Monday, December 21st. Cumberland Session hours are as follows:
- Basic Skills: 6:30-7:30pm
- Pre-Free to Free Skate 6: 7-8pm
- Punch Card/Free Style Ice: 8-8:30pm
**NEW** In addition, we will be offering additional Punch Card/Free Style Ice this year again in Cumberland. It will be on the following Fridays from 4-6pm for those skaters in Pre-Free and above. Punch cards can be purchased on our registration site. Each punch is for a half hour. You do not have to stay the whole two hours. You may stay in 30 minute increments if you choose. This is only time open to Northwoods Figure Skating Club members. In addition, on many of these Fridays from 5-5:30 and 5:30-6 there may be availability with a coach that has been working with some of our advanced skaters/coaches in terms of private lessons. If you are interested in this for your skater, please reach out and I can cover the details with you.

- February 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th
- March 5th, 12th
**NEW** We will be offering a Testing Class in Cumberland during the session starting on November 2nd. The class will be a 30-minute class open to skaters in Pre-Free and above. The goal will be to prepare them for the first US Figure Skating Test, Pre-Preliminary Skating Skills. The class will be offered from 7:30-8pm. If your skater is registered for lessons in Cumberland, that is their practice ice time, and the cost to them for taking the additional instruction class will be $25 for the whole session payable in cash/check the first night of the session. If your skater skates in Rice Lake, but is interested in just taking the class in Cumberland on Monday nights from 7:30-8pm, the cost will be $50 payable in cash/check the first night of the session. If you have any questions at all in regard to testing or this class, I will be available at the Rice Lake Rink this Sunday from 5-8pm to answer any questions. This is another way we can enhance our skaters’ skills.
**NEW** Our 2026 Fundraising will look a little different this year. A number of families were hoping to sell something besides pizza. So, we have a new fundraiser called “Coffee & Crunch.” We’ll be selling coffee, granola and popcorn. On November 15th in Rice Lake at 5pm and on November 16th in Cumberland at 6:30pm, the company representative will present to us this new program. It sounds like you can either sell in person or via email/text AND the items are directly shipped to the buyer so no having to deliver:) Each skater will have to sell at least 10 items. If you have multiple skaters, the minimum family sell is 15 items. Don’t worry though-if you don’t want to sell, there is still a $100 buy-out option. Selling will be open from Nov. 15th-Dec. 7th, with delivery before Christmas. Please plan to attend one of the informational meetings as fundraising is a club requirement. I’ve attached an item listing if you’d like a sneak peak:)

NFSC President
The Northwoods Figure Skating Club (NFSC) is a non-profit, non-stock incorporated organization whose purpose is to encourage instruction, practice and advancement of its members in all types of figure skating and basic hockey skating concepts. NFSC was founded in 1989 and skates at the Cumberland and Rice Lake Hockey Arenas.
NFSC is an official member of the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA), the governing body of amateur skating in the United States. This association entitles the local skaters to conduct and participate in official USFSA test sessions, competitions and ice shows.
Along with taking lessons with NFSC, many of our skaters participate in USFSA testing and competitions. Our Free Style skaters have a strong presence at the Northland Competition in Duluth, Roseville Competition, Maplewood Classic, Eau Claire Competition and many more!
NFSC accepts skaters throughout the year. Our club consists of all skill levels from ages 4 and up. We are always looking to grow our participation in the club. Questions regarding the NFSC can be directed to info@northwoodsfsc.com.
